Conversation on pain: symptom, messenger, threshold By Jan and Darkam

An exchange between two different disciplines and worlds of expertise united by a common interest in pain. Jan, working as a physician in children and youth psychiatry and having ventured into his first experiences in body modification, has learned his understanding of pain from his personal history and the medical education system. Eugenia who’s experience and knowledge comes from her practice in tattooing, body suspension and body suspension facilitation, where pain is sought, moved through, and sometimes transformed. Together, we seek to explore pain, its function and boundaries. We will look at pain as a type of language: a messenger, a limit, and at times a necessary passage. When does pain protect, when does it block, and when can it become a tool for awareness and growth?
