DECOLONIZING ECHOS
Herzliche Einladung zu dem Projekt DECOLONIZING ECHOS
Das Projekt Decolonizing Echos knüpft an das Projekt Bismark Dekolonial an, das im Sommer 2021 von der mexikanisch-deutschen Choreografin und Kuratorin Yolanda Gutiérrez initiiert wurde.
Sie lud Künstler verschiedener Disziplinen aus ehemaligen europäischen Kolonien auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent nach Hamburg ein, um sich kritisch mit dem Bismarck-Denkmal auseinanderzusetzen.
Teil des Projekts war auch der mexikanische Multimediakünstler Fabian Villasana alias Dr. Calavera, der den ruandischen Illustrator Dolph Banza und die Künstlerin und Sängerin Tennin einlud,
eine Serie von Illustrationen in Verbindung mit einer Sound-Intervention zu entwickeln. Diese sind der Anfang der Entwicklung eines kontinuierlichen Dialogs und einer künstlerischen Stimme zur aktuellen Debatte
um das umstrittene Dasein des Bismarck-Denkmals in Hamburg.
Die Öffentlichkeit ist eingeladen, an einer Reihe von Veranstaltungen mit Diskussionen, einer Führung, Videomapping auf das Denkmal und einer Sound-Intervention im öffentlichen Raum teilzunehmen.
Die Videos werden auf die Statue projiziert, weithin sichtbar an prominenter Stelle vom Kopf bis zum Sockel. Die Interventionen werden von einer Führung, einem Workshop und einer Podiumsdiskussion
mit verschiedenen internationalen Referenten begleitet. Ziel des Projekts ist es, eine Plattform für die Diskussion über Erinnerungskulturen und mögliche künstlerische Interventionen an Denkmälern und öffentlichen Räumen mit fragwürdiger Geschichte zu schaffen.

A cordial invitation to the project DECOLONIZING ECHOS
The project Decolonizing Echos follows up on a project called Bismark Dekolonial, which was initiated in the summer of 2021 by the Mexican-German choreographer and curator Yolanda Gutiérrez.
She invited artists from different disciplines from former European colonies on the African continent to Hamburg to critically examine the Bismarck monument.
Also part of the project was the Mexican multimedia artist Fabian Villasana aka Dr. Calavera , who invited the Rwandan illustrator Dolph Banza and artist and singer Tennin to develop a series of illustrations.
in relation to a sound intervention as an ongoing dialogue and an artistic voice to the current debate revolving around the controversial standing of the Bismarck monument in Hamburg.
The public is invited to take part in a series of events with discussions, a guided tour, video mapping on the monument, and sound intervention in public space.
The videos will be projected on the statue, visible from afar in a prominent position from the head to the base. The interventions will be accompanied by a guided tour, a workshop,
and a panel discussion with various international speakers. The project aims to give a platform to discuss cultures of memory and possible artistic interventions on monuments and public spaces with a questionable history.
