As a keen observer of contemporary influencer-culture, Hamburg based artist Vadim Batz was quick to realize that handtufting rugs could be way more than just a hashtag on instagram – When it came to pairing the carpets with a similarly insane aesthetic, we immediately thought of Marian Bodenstein

Born and raised in Astania - Kasachstan, Vadim’s visual environment merges folklore, post-soviet Power-rangers bootlegs and - as found in many kasachian homes - colorful carpets, to isolate as well as to decorate walls and floors. His ACIDTRIP - GONE WRONG TAPESTRY™ quotes pop- and high culture, from the mystic age of William Blake to the bloodsoaken battlefields in Warhammer 40K.

When it came to pairing the carpets with a similarly insane aesthetic, we immediately thought of Marian Bodenstein, who is designing and screenprinting gigposters for the likes of Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees and Amyl and the Sniffers under the alias FUZZZGUN. Grewing up in Erfurt, he was ( and still is ) a Dungeons and Dragons, scifi-novel and comics loving dirty little punk. This is exactly what his posters, risoprints, comics, illustrations, zines and recordcovers feel like. Employing the Xerox collage aesthetics of 80s hardcore to the colorful world of digital self improvement he draws from a „sophisticated“ pool of found footage like Tartcards, QSL cards, dogshitbags and hot dog papers - basically streettrash he is hoarding. Marian plays in the excellent bands LASSIE and LAFFF BOX, is active in the RISOCLUB LEIPZIG and one of the curators of ART VOLKMARSDORF.

So welcome to your very own personal fuzzy yet disturbing abyss. Colorful but hurting. Funny but just as a comic relief. Cheers to permanent crisis!
