FATA MORGANA

The project takes place on three different stages over a period of 19 days. FATA MORGANA intends to portray a city under construction. It arises from the influence of a moment in motion: a cyclical exodus and the accelerated decay of the city. Here, this image is built in layers surrounding and shaping the bodyobject. There is thus a longing to return to the island, to hear and see from afar the distorted noise and silhouette of the machine.

In the first stage (interior room) a set of objects are brought together revealing a path of displacement. The impossibility of crossing the two rooms of Raum linksrechts draws a frame and questions then the intentionality of exhibiting these (archival) objects. After the journey – the journey back.
From the exterior, (outer room) the two screens of these two rooms are being covered. There is a paradoxical attempt to bring a serene and milky landscape to the busy and empty street. And it suggests the boring novelty of the city: the expectation of an encounter with a utopia, the never seen interior of a building.
Its third format is that of a newspaper (in movement – between rooms), so that can be touched and owned. This document of more organic longevity is a vanity. It documents an accident that never came to an end and still invades the intimate room of the viewer.

The invisible progress of the process of owning a castle is simulated.

Annika Grabold, geb. 1995 in Langen (Hessen), studiert seit 2014 an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach mit Stationen in Tallinn (2018) und bis 2020 an der HFBK Hamburg in der Klasse von Thomas Demand. Sie erhielt u.a. 2017 den Fotoförderpreis der Deutschen Börse Photography Foundation und 2020 ein Stipendium im Künstlerhaus Lukas, Ahrenshoop.

Geunha Ninah Kim, geb. 1989 in Südkorea, absolvierte nach einem Bachelor in Science of Art (Theory of Art) an der Hongik University in Seoul, Südkora, ein Bachelor-Studium an der HFBK Hamburg in der Klasse von Thomas Demand. Sie gibt Keramikkurse für Kinder.

Jaewon Kim, geb. 1987 in Seoul, Südkorea, machte am Seoul Institute of The Arts seinen BA in Photography und studierte von 2014 bis 2018 im BA an der HFBK Hamburg bei Thomas Demand und Ceal Floyer. Derzeit macht er seinen Master an der HFBK Hamburg bei Thomas Demand und Martin Boyce. 2016 erhielt er eine Freundeskreis-Projektförderung der HFBK.

Luzia Carriço Cruz, geb. 1997 in Lissabon, Portugal, verbrachte während ihres BA-Studiums an der Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa ein Erasmus-Semester an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Mark Lammert. Seit 2019 studiert sie an der HFBK Hamburg in der Klasse von Thomas Demand. Sie ist Mitgründerin & -betreiberin des Kunstraumes EGEU in Lissabon.

***INFORMATIONEN ZUM AUSSTELLUNGSBESUCH***

Pro Galerieseite dürfen zwei Personen bzw. ein Haushalt + eine weitere Person gleichzeitig in die Ausstellung. Eine vorherige Anmeldung ist nicht nötig.

Der Zugang zur Galerie kann nur unter folgenden Voraussetzungen erfolgen:

• bis 21.5.: Nachweis eines negativen Schnelltests (nicht älter als 12 Stunden und von offizieller Stelle bescheinigt) oder eines höchstens 48 Stunden zurückliegenden PCR-Tests oder der vollständig erfolgten Impfung oder der Genesung
• Medizinischer Mund-Nasen-Schutz (OP oder FFP2)
• Kontaktdatennachverfolgung
• Einhaltung aller Hygienemaßnahmen und des Abstandsgebots
