betweenEbbandFlow: interstitial spaces
is an expanded exhibition that centres on the site of the harbour as the conceptual framework and main stage. Through site-specific interventions across the harbour and an interconnected programme in off-spaces, it seeks to challenge clichés ascribed to this geographic and social milieu as a stronghold of colonial nostalgia or tourist attraction that lost connection with its citizens by integrating landscape and subjectivity, rethinking local knowledge.
Water flows through this fragmented mosaic of memories as a unifying medium and hydrofeminist metaphor to experience ourselves as liquid bodies traversing space and time.
Mythopoetic views, floating performances and intuitive collages convey the shared sense of the inner displacement of contemporary subjectivity to examine the scars hidden beneath.
Instead of the port as the symbol of the limitless possibilities of finding one's bearings, the 'denied travel' in the limbo between here and there will be the starting point of the artistic positions involved.
