Springlizard, the full, hypnotic acoustic duo, began as a solo project by Jonah Schwartz while he was living in Philadelphia in 2003. Influenced by the music he was hearing in the city, he recorded a 5 song EP ‘The Greenhaus in July,’ but the band didn’t really start taking shape until he moved to Argentina, where he met Andres Barlesi in 2005. They began arranging songs for two guitars and two voices, and started playing shows in and around Buenos Aires in 2006. By 2008 they had recorded and mixed a demo (with the help of Sam Cusumano of Espers), and in 2009 they recorded and released their first album ‘Dreams of the Wolf’.
In 2011, Springlizard put out a cassette only release of live and unreleased material. ‘Yegados Casssettte’ draws strongly from their experiences in Europe the year before. This hand-made, limited release sold out in less than a month.
In September 2011, Springlizard will once again be on tour in Europe, playing in the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, and France. They will be rereleasing the LP, and cassette, and will also be releasing a 7” for the occasion.
