TATIANA IVANKOVA will read poetry in Russian by ANNA AKHMATOVA AND BORIS PASTERNAK, with a German translation provided. HENRY HOLLAND will read from his new English translation of ROSA LUXEMBURG’S writings on the 1905 Russian Revolution, to be published 2018 by Verso Books. DR. SIBYLLE HOFFMANN will speak, in German, on the Russian influence on German revolutionaries, particularly on CLARA ZETKIN; ALISTAIR NOON’S English-language translations of the Russian poet OSIP MANDELSTAM have been widely published and praised. His own poetry collections include Earth Records (2012) and The Kerosene Singing (2015), both from Nine Arches Press. DR. NEIL FAULKNER will read from his 2017 book A People’s History of the Russian Revolution (University of Chicago Press). Neil is an archaeologist, historian and political activist. His other books include: A Marxist History of the World: from Neanderthals to Neoliberals and Creeping Fascism: Brexit, Trump, and the Rise of the Far Right.
Vor und nach der Pause wird es kurze Darbietungen von unseren fünf Vortragenden geben. Anschließend folgt eine Publikumsdiskussion, bei der ihr die Podiumsmitglieder gerne zu deren Arbeit und zur Russischen Revolution befragen können. Also, seid Teil der Debatte – ähnlich wie die Mitglieder des Petrograder Sowjets von 1917, der auf der Fotografie abgebildet ist.
